Joining the regional mall as drawing forces in the area are Sunnyside Kaiser Hospital (and several health clinics), Oregon Institute of Technology, Clackamas Promenade Shopping Center and an 85-acre regional park and swim center.

The North Clackamas Area has approximately 5,000 businesses and 74,000 employees. Industrial areas include the Clackamas Industrial Area along Highway 212 with roughly 500 businesses, and the Milwaukie Industrial Area along Highway 224 with 300 businesses. Community business centers are located in Milwaukie, Gladstone and Damascus.

Milwaukie was incorporated on February 4, 1903. Founder Lot Whitcomb first envisioned that Milwaukie would quickly become a thriving metropolis. However, despite agricultural and industrial prestige, the area remained a typical pioneer village for most of its 100-year history. Over the past 10 years, the area has benefited from the overall growth on the Portland area.

Today, the community features a small-town flavor with easy access to all the amenities of a big city. Lush scenic settings, an abundance of recreational and cultural activities and safe neighborhoods are just some of the factors making up the overall excellent quality of life.
